Traffic Study

For my traffic survey, I decided to sit in Margaritas and watch traffic during the lunch hour
(1:17 pm). I was curious to see how many cars would pass by in a ten minute setting. Here are the results:

As you can see, approximately 60 cars passed by in the course of 10 minutes. I was a little shock at how many cars went by Margarita's, and without the help of my friends, I probably would not have had the capability to document at least half of them. In the course of 10 minutes the traffic came in spurts. Many cars would pass by over the course of 2-3 minutes and then for about a 2 minutes, there would not be much traffic. One thing I also noticed was that the traffic that came in spurts was at a lot faster speed than the cars cruising though Mercer Village. Another observation made was that size of the vehicle had a quite a positive correlation to the number of passengers in the vehicle, except for a few outliers. The larger the vehicle, the more passengers there were. Overall, I feel the traffic study was fun and a great learning experience.
